Thank you for selecting our Journal to submit your paper. These instructions are essential to ensure your paper goes through the peer review, preparation, and publication process smoothly. Please read and follow them carefully to ensure your paper meets the Journal’s requirements.
Submission Checklist
Please:
- Read the Aims & Scopes to gain an overview and assess if your manuscript is suitable for this journal;
- Use the Microsoft Word template to prepare your manuscript;
- Make sure all authors have approved content and read the Instructions for Authors before submitting the manuscript;
- Make sure that issues related to publication ethics (a), copyright (b), authorship (c), figure formats (d), data (e), and reference format (f) have been appropriately considered, abiding by the following:
(a) Publication Ethics
The editors of this journal enforce a rigorous peer review process together with strict ethical policies and standards to ensure high-quality scientific works in the field of scholarly publication. Unfortunately, plagiarism, data falsification, image manipulation, inappropriate authorship credit, and the like arise. The editors of IJISE take such publishing ethics issues very seriously and are trained to proceed in such cases with a zero-tolerance policy. Authors who aim to get their papers published in IJISE are required to follow these guidelines:
- Any facts that might be perceived as a possible conflict of interest of the author(s) must be disclosed in the paper before submission;
- Authors must present their research findings accurately and include an objective discussion on the significance of their findings;
- The research data and methods need to be presented in sufficient detail in the paper so that other researchers can replicate the work;
- The authors should publicly deposit raw data before submission of their manuscript. Authors need to have at least the raw data readily available for presentation to the referees and the editors of the journal if requested. Authors need to ensure appropriate measures are taken so that raw data is retained in total for a reasonable time after publication;
- Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals at the same time is not allowed;
- If authors find errors or inaccuracies post-publication, they must immediately inform the journal editors to facilitate appropriate action;
- Your manuscript should not contain any previously published figures or images without obtaining necessary permission from the copyright holder;
- Plagiarism, data fabrication, and image manipulation are not tolerated.
(b) Copyright
Conference papers can be considered as articles if they meet specific requirements for quality and scope:
- The paper must be expanded to the size of a research article;
- The conference paper should be cited in the paper;
- If the authors do not hold the copyright for the published conference paper, they must obtain permission from the copyright holder;
- Authors must declare their paper as a conference paper in the cover letter and provide a statement regarding the changes made in comparison to the original conference paper.
(c) Authorship
IJISE requires authors to meet certain criteria for authorship:
- Contribution to the conception, design, acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work is substantial;
- Drafting the work or critically reviewing it for important intellectual content are both essential tasks in the writing process;
- Gain final approval of the version to be published;
- Agreement to take responsibility for all aspects of the work.
Individuals who have contributed to the research project but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be listed in the acknowledgment. It is important that any changes made to the list of authors of a publication are approved by all authors, even those who have been removed from the list. The corresponding author should be the main contact between the editor and the other authors, keeping them informed and involving them in important decisions regarding the publication. We may also request confirmation that all authors meet the necessary authorship conditions.
(d) Figure Formats
- All Figures and Tables should be inserted into the main text close to their first citation and must be numbered following their number of appearance (Figure 1, Figure 2, Table 1, Table 2, etc.);
- All Figures and Tables must have a caption;
- Authors are encouraged to use the Table option of Microsoft Word to create tables;
(e) Data
IJISE is dedicated to promoting open scientific exchange and helping authors adopt best practices in sharing and archiving their research data. We strongly encourage all authors of published articles to share their research data, including, but not limited to, protocols, analytical methods, raw and processed data, code, software, algorithms, and study materials. The data must be findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable to enable other researchers to locate and use it. Data availability statements are required for all published articles.
(f) Reference Format
- Authors are required that references must be formatted in IEEE style;
- Authors are encouraged to use Mendeley Reference Manager;
- Paper should not contain less than 15 cited references;
Manuscript Submission Overview
IJISE requires that authors publish all relevant information about their research findings and make complete datasets available as clearly as possible. Manuscripts submitted to IJISE should not have been published previously or be under consideration for publication in another journal. The main article types are listed in Aims & Scopes. Your manuscript should be compiled in the following order: title, abstract, keywords, main content including an introduction with previous research, materials and methods, results, discussion, conclusion, and additional content including acknowledgments, declaration of interest statement, and references.
Manuscript Structure
- Author details: Please ensure the accuracy of all listed authors. All authors of a manuscript should include their full name and affiliation on the cover page of the manuscript. One author must be identified as the corresponding author, with their email address.
- Abstract: It should contain the main content’s summarized text of 100-200 words;
- Keywords: Between 3 and 6 keywords;
- Disclosure statement: If there are no relevant competing interests to declare, please state this within the article, for example: The authors report there are no competing interests to declare;
- Data availability statements: Data availability statements are required for all published articles, for example: The data presented in this study are available on request from the corresponding author;
- Figures: Figures should be high quality (1200 dpi for line art, 600 dpi for grayscale, and 300 dpi for color, at the correct size). Figures should be arranged in one of the preferred file formats: JPEG, PNG, or TIFF;
- Equations: Please ensure that equations are editable in a Word document;
- Units: Please use SI units (non-italicized);
- References: Please ensure that references are formatted in IEEE style.
Independent Researcher
Suppose one or all of the authors are not currently affiliated with a university, institution, or company or have not been during the manuscript’s development. In that case, they should list themselves as “Independent Researcher.”
